How To Get Your Massachusetts Medical Card Today
Answer a series of questions
If you’re a patient that requires medical cannabis, then a medical marijuana identification card is your key to freely consuming cannabis. It will take around 30 seconds to 1 minute to obtain your medical card.
To verify your eligibility, you will be asked a series of questions by a licensed doctor. You will have to explain to the doctor how medicinal cannabis will be helpful for the treatment or management of your ongoing medical condition. When this step is completed, your medical card will be handed over to you digitally and be available in your Google or Apple wallet.
A medical doctor reviews your answers
A doctor will then review all the medical conditions you’ve been through in the past. It’s essential to be open and honest about your health condition with the doctor. Explain how medical cannabis is beneficial for you. Before you get approval, the doctor will have to check if you have one of the qualifying medical conditions that qualify you for medical cannabis.
The doctor approving your eligibility is therefore first and most important step to getting approved for medical cannabis. Thanks to your answers, the doctor will be able to ensure that you’re an eligible candidate who passes the medical conditions suitable for using medical marijuana in Massachusetts.
Get your medical card approved
The licensed doctor will assess your MMJ card request based on your current health condition, medical history, and any supporting documents you may supply.
The doctor will ask questions related to your everyday schedule, your medical conditions and medical history, any treatments you’ve been having, or activities. At the end of the evaluation, you’ll receive an answer. Upon approval, you’ll immediately receive your medical card.

About Medical Marijuana in Massachusetts
MPP and local supporters began setting the framework for a 2016 legalization campaign in 2015, after playing a key role in decriminalizing marijuana and legalizing medicinal marijuana through ballot initiatives (in 2008 and 2012, respectively).
The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol organized a drafting committee consisting of advocates, attorneys, and cannabis industry specialists who produced what would later become known as Question 4. The result was a reasonable proposal to eliminate the failed prohibition policy while focusing on public health, safety, and social equity.
Marijuana is lawful to possess and consume for adults aged 21 and over. To buy marijuana, you don’t have to be a Massachusetts resident, but you must present a government ID.
Outside of your house or vehicle, you can have up to 1 ounce of marijuana and up to 5 grams of marijuana concentrate as long as it’s stored in a closed and sealed container or locked trunk.
Use of marijuana in public or private
It is illegal to use marijuana in public. When a place prohibits tobacco smoking, it also prohibits marijuana smoking. It’s legal to use on your own property or on private property with authorization. “No individual shall use marijuana in a public place or smoke marijuana where smoking tobacco is forbidden,” according to Massachusetts General Law. A civil penalty of not more than $100 shall be imposed on anybody who violates this subsection.” It is prohibited to drive while under the influence of marijuana.
